Simply Flower Power Pain Relief & Moisturising Cream contents
1. Flower essences
These are made from a mixture of Australian Natives and European plants. Some of the plants used are: Eucalyptus for reducing shock, Blackberry for fear (keeping people away by acting ‘prickly’), Centaury for fear also (making you avoid people), Pig Face for being able to survive in difficult situations, Thistle for grief, Running Postman for exhaustion.
These flowers were chosen because their emotional expression resembles the feelings one might when at the scene of an accident, the theory being that whenever there is physical pain in the body there is also emotional pain. The physical pain is addressed from an emotional perspective with the use of the flower essences in the cream.
How the flower essences are made
The method most used for making the Simply Flower Power flower essences is the ‘dipping of the live plant in the water’ method rather than the ‘cutting of the flower and allowing it to soak in water in the sun’ method (1)(5). This minimizes the shock to the plant and allows its vital life force to be transmitted to the water with more strength and harmony.
2. Homeopathic ingredient
St John's Wort (Hypericum Perforatum 6x) is a ‘nerve pain alleviator’ in homeopathic form. Its actions are ‘anti-inflammatory, astringent, vulnerary, sedative, analgesic’ (2).
3. Lavender oil
100% Essential Oil of Lavender B.P. 1999 (Lavendula angustifolia), for added pain relief and a subtle pleasant scent. Lavender oil is often used for ‘muscular aches and pains’ (11).
4. Cream base
Oils:
Sunflower oil- is ‘slightly astringent’.
Sweet Almond oil – ‘softens, soothes and reconditions the skin’.
Castor oil – ‘soothes, hydrates and balances the skin’.
Evening Primrose oil – ‘may reduce inflammation and premature skin ageing; may support skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis’(12).
The oils are cold pressed.
Vitamin E (alpha tocopherol) – ‘is believed to play a role in encouraging skin healing and reducing scarring after injuries such as burns. Vitamin E is one of the many nutrients that have protective properties’ (13).
Other ingredients in the cream base:
Purified water – found in all cosmetic products.
Vegetable glycerine – a humectant, helps keep the skin moist.
Xanthum gum – an emulsifier, helps the water and oils mix.
Rosemary extract (Rosemary Officinalis) – acts as an antioxidant.
Contains no lanolin or petroleum derived products. Sodium Hydroxyethyl glycinate, the preferred preservative for natural products, is used as a preservative.
In short: The moisturizing base is like a hand/face cream, which assits in softening the skin to aid the absorption of the flower essences.
NB Store below 30°C, away from electrical appliances and direct sunlight. On hot days, or if you have extra jars of cream in reserve, the best place to keep them is in one of the compartments in your refrigerator door, the ones with a lid that helps protect from moisture.
