Chiropractor Dr Jessica Read first became aware of the powerful effect of flower remedies to assist in relieving physical pain in the mid 1980’s. A patient she was working with seemed unable to hold any of his adjustments. Dr Read devised the theory that maybe his cells were stuck in a kind of emotional shock and simply could not ‘remember’ how to get better. In chiropractic terms, his 'Innate' appeared ‘switched off’ in specific areas of the spine. This patient had suffered three whiplash injuries and one disc protrusion within a period of five years. He was living in constant pain, on an invalid pension, as a consequence.
After many trials, some using the well known Bach Flower Remedies, Dr Read eventually created a formula of four flower essences from flowers growing in Western Australia. These were added to an aqueous cream base. This flower essence cream, aptly named Nature's Remedy First Aid Cream, was used for many years with great results.
In the early 2000's, Dr Read devised a more comprehensive formula, which still relied on flower essences but also drew upon the natural powers of Lavender oil (Lavandula Angustifolia), Castor oil, Evening Primrose oil. Sweet Almond oil and Vitamin E (alpha Tocopherol Acetate). Later on St John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum 6x) in homeopathic form was added to the formula, further enhancing the pain relieving qualities. The new cream became known as Simply Flower Power Pain Relief & Moisturising Cream.
Dr Read called her new product
Simply Flower Power® Pain Relief & Moisturising Cream
to emphasize the notion that flowers
have natural energy, or power,
that can help us feel better.
