Painful conditions caused by referred pain
Pain in a specific area of the spine or in particular muscles is often caused by referred pain from an organ that is not functioning correctly. Below are some examples of this.
1. Lower back pain in the area of the of the sacrum, of a dragging 'toothachy' type nature, which no change of position seems to relieve, is often caused by referred pain from the ileocecal valve. The ileocecal valve is a valve located between the last section of the small intestine (the ileum) and the first part of the large intestine (the cecum). It is very close to the appendix. The ileocecal valve can become irritated when we eat too many nuts, too much raw or vey lightly cooked food in particular carrots, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower. Too much porridge or muesli often causes this too. It's as if the food hasn't been broken down enough further up in the digestive tract and is too large to get through the valve. So it gets stuck in that area.
Some of the symptoms of ileocecal valve problems are pain in the lower right hand corner of your abdomen when you touch it deeply with your fingers, bloated tummy after eating, a feeling of having a 'brick' in your abdominal area, constipation or just not being able to fully empty your bowels. And of course, the low back pain that was mentioned at the beginning of this section.
The solution is firstly to change your diet. Eat mashed well cooked food instead of lots of roughage and raw food - semolina is a great food to eat to help an ileocecal valve recover. Also mashed pumpkin, cooked pureed food, basically the type of food you would feed a baby just starting out on solids. This will help the digestive system relax and start clearing the backlog in the intestines.
Use Simply Flower Power on the lower back pain as well as on the whole abdominal area. The back pain will start to go away when your digestive system begins to function better. The cream may speed up the process.
2. Lower back pain in the area of the last lumbar vertebra and the third one (L5 and L3).
The nerves to the uterus and ovaries comes from this level of the spine. If there is a problem in the reproductive area such as painful periods, there can be associated low back pain. Many women will experience discomfort in the low back during their period so will be familiar with this concept. However, women who have had hysterectomies may still have low back pain even though they no longer have their uterus.
The solution: Simply Flower Power® Pain Relief & Moisturising Cream may help re-establish some harmony in the cells and reduce the pain, so apply it to the site of pain both on the lower abdomen and the lower back.
Painful periods often respond to chiropractic or osteopathic adjustments in the lower back so do consider this as well as using the cream on the painful areas.
Consult your healthcare practitioner if pain persists.
3. Neck pain, if not caused by some physical injury or trauma, is often associated with the food you eat.
Many of the nerves that exit from the spinal cord at the level of the neck end up in the digestive system in particular the stomach. If something you are eating is upsetting your stomach and its digestive process, you may well feel a tightness in your neck, a general discomfort or a feeling that you have slept the 'wrong way'.
If you wake up with a neck ache, or your neck bothers you for no seemingly good reason, go over what you have eaten recently and you will probably find that you have had curry or some other spicy food, or have eaten an excess of food such as nuts, or chocolate, especially poor quality chocolate.
The solution is to stop eating the food that upset you, eat quite bland food for a few days, drink lots of water, and apply Simply Flower Power Cream to both your neck, your tummy and between your shoulder blades, as many of the digestive organs are supplied by nerves coming from the middle of the spine too.
4. Pain between the shoulder blades, if not caused by a physical injury to the thoracic vertebrae, is often the result of unhappy digestive organs such as the gallbladder (T4), the stomach (T5), pancreas (T6), spleen (T7), liver (T8).
The gallbladder and liver react to too much fatty food, excess chocolate and poor quality fruit juice especially orange and apple. The stomach doesn't like too much spicy food. The pancreas becomes exhausted by too much sugar in the diet. The spleen has to work harder if you are run down or are catching a cold.
The solution is to and drink lots of water to clear out the toxins from your system. Also apply Simply Flower Power® Pain Relief & Moisturising Cream to the organs themselves in the abdominal area, and between the shoulder blades where the pain is located. You should find quite an improvement within a week to ten days of making the changes.
5. Tennis elbow can be associated with both the ileocecal valve problem and the digestive problem as stated here above. Follow the advice in those sections to clear the pain as well as using the Simply Flower Power Cream on the elbow itself.
